Perimeter and Coherence According to McCammond and Wise

چکیده
In [MW97], McCammond and Wise introduce the perimeter of 2complexes and use it to obtain a sufficient criterion for coherence. We present a new exposition of their main result, as well as some applications.

Coherence, Locally Quasiconvexity, and the Perimeter of 2-complexes
A group is called coherent when all of its finitely generated subgroups are finitely presented. Although many examples of coherent groups are known, (most notably polycyclic groups and 3-manifold groups) few tests are known for positively determining the coherence of an arbitrary group presentation. In this article we provide such a test. The test is based upon a definition of the perimeter of ...
متن کاملCoherence, Local Quasiconvexity, and the Perimeter of 2-complexes
A group is coherent if all its finitely generated subgroups are finitely presented. In this article we provide a criterion for positively determining the coherence of a group. This criterion is based upon the notion of the perimeter of a map between two finite 2-complexes which is introduced here. In the groups to which this theory applies, a presentation for a finitely generated subgroup can b...
متن کاملWindmills and Extreme 2-cells
In this article we prove new results about the existence of 2-cells in disc diagrams which are extreme in the sense that they are attached to the rest of the diagram along a small connected portion of their boundary cycle. In particular, we establish conditions on a 2-complex X which imply that all minimal area disc diagrams over X with reduced boundary cycles have extreme 2-cells in this sense...
متن کاملRelation of Growth of Crossbred Hair Sheep with some Zoometric Measures
The weighing records of 18 crossbred females with average live weight of 14.7 ± 3.14 kg were analyzed to study the relationship of the growth of crossbred hair sheep with some zoometric measures. The weight was established and took the measures thoracic perimeter, cannon perimeter, body length, neck length, hip amplitude, ischial amplitude, withers height and croup height. All parameters were s...
متن کاملEstimating Dental Age Using the Pulp/Tooth Perimeter Ratio in Maxillary Canines by Digital Panoramic Radiography
Introduction: Teeth can be used to determine age in forensic medicine if none of the other techniques of identification are appropriate. The researchers used panoramic radiographs from patients referred to Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Dental School to determine age using pulp/tooth perimeter ratio. Methods: In this diagnostic study, 800 panoramic digital radiographs were examined and the age of the pa...
